Christian Lindberg has been focusing mostly on his conducting career lately and in recent years he guest conducted orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Verdi Orchestra Milano, Swedish Radio Orchestra, Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, Nordic Chamber Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie, Extremadura Orchestra, Umeå Symphony Orchestra, Tiroler Symphonieorchester, Het Noord Nederland Orkest, Het Gelders Orkest, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Poznan Symphony Orchestra, Danish Radio Orchestra, Jenaer Philharmonie, Oulu Symphony Orchestra, Euscadi Orchestra, Maggio Fiorentino, Haydn Orchestra Bolzano, Northern Sinfonia, Helsinki Philharmonics, Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Finlandia, Cape Philharmonic, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Opera Orchestra, Nürnberger Symphoniker, Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Württembergische Philharmonie, Teneriffe Symphony Orchestra and Porto Symphony Orchestra.

Future guest conducting engagements include conducting debuts with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Hessischer Rundfunk, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Sönderjylland Symphony Orchestra, Simon Bolivar Orchestra, Kobe Chamber Orchestra Japan. Futrermore he received re-invitations from the RTE National Symphony Ireland, Nürnberger Symphoniker, Brazil National Theatre Orchestra, Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Targu Mures Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Norwegian Navy Band, Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès Barcelona, Riga Sinfonietta, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Veästerås Sinfonietta, Nordic Chamber Orchestra, Stockholm Sinfonietta, Swedish Wind Ensemble, Nordic Chamber Orchestra and Gävle Symphony Orchestra.

Christian Lindberg is Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the newly established Norwegian Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra. During his first year in this position Christian Lindberg made his opera debut with a production of Carmen. He took the orchestra on international tours such as a visit to the new Mariinsky Concert Hall in St Petersburg where Christian Lindberg conducted Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5, invited by Valerij Gergiev and on a major tour of China. Christian Lindberg and the orchestra were also booked for a big tour of Japan which had to be postponed due to the tsunami catastrophe.

Plans for the upcoming seasons with the Norwegian Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra include a new production of La Boheme, as well as major tour with a programme called “Arctic Light”. The orchestra will record Tchaikovsky symphonies as well as new works by Lindberg, Ness and Baadsvik on BIS records. In 2014 the orchestra will inaugurate its new Concert Hall in Bodø, Norway with an exciting programme including a world première of a work commissioned for this occasion.

Christian Lindberg’s latest orchestra recordings on BIS — Pettersson symphonies 1 & 2 with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Lindberg conducts Sandström with Iceland Symphony and music by Norwegian composer Ole Olsen with the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra — have received highest international critical acclaim. His recording of symphonies by Allan Pettersson was awarded the prestigious “RESMUSICA CLEF” by the renowned French classical music magazine.
